Nor'Easters Coaches
Rob Carter coaches the Saturday group. Rob learned to skate as a young child, but did not learn to play hockey (or skate like a hockey player) until after he graduated from high school. As such, he knows what it feels like to learn to play as an adult. After playing in recreational leagues for ten years or so, Rob took his first skills class through The Hockey Academy, where he and his wife-to-be (Lisa, who was just learning to skate) met several Nor'Easters players, who mentioned that the Saturday night group could use an assistant coach the next Fall. So Rob soaked up all he could on how to teach hockey and offered to help out.
When the new season came around, Rob was surprised to learn that "assistant coach" really meant "only coach," but told everybody that if they were okay with a beginning coach teaching beginning players, then things could work out just fine. Now, nearing the end of his second season coaching, Rob is feeling more and more comfortable every week, and finds that he likes the teaching aspect most of all. Even though it is not required for coaching adults, Rob has decided to work his way through the USA Hockey Coaching Certification program, and is currently at Level 2, with plans to complete one level each year.
Brett Lund coaches the Friday group.
